AJ Springfield

Director

AJ is the Director of PupSavers Rescue Inc. A native West Virginian, he has dedicated his life to animal rehabilitation. From taming barn kittens to rescuing primates, parrots, horses, and domestic pets, his passion has always been helping animals. Returning to West Virginia has been a lifelong dream—to work alongside volunteers, shelters, and rescues to provide loving homes for abandoned pets. His motto, “Making the invisible, visible,” drives the mission to improve the lives of animals in the community.

Jon Muttoni

Assistant Director

Jon is the Assistant Director of PupSavers Rescue. With extensive experience in animal husbandry and livestock management, he has participated in approximately 2,500 rescues across the U.S. since 2018 alongside AJ. A devoted German Shepherd and wolf enthusiast, he finds fulfillment in seeing animals transform from difficult cases into happy, loving pets.

Portia Welch

Compliance Director

Portia is the Compliance Director for PupSavers. She has been rescuing animals since childhood. Growing up in Texas, she worked on cattle farms and helped manage the San Antonio Rodeo. Passionate about underdogs, she has experience working with farm animals, domestic pets, and even exotics.

Maddison Stonebreaker

Foster Coordinator

Maddison is the Foster Coordinator. A lifelong animal lover, she has years of experience in rescue and rehabilitation. She believes every animal deserves better than the conditions they are rescued from and is proud to be part of a team that fights tirelessly to protect and defend the innocent.

Marcus Rutter

Technology Manager

Marcus is the Technology Manager and Digital Consultant. He oversees the organization’s technology, ensuring that digital resources are established, maintained, and optimized to spread PupSavers’ mission across West Virginia and beyond. By managing the backend systems, he enables the team to focus on rescuing animals and supporting the community.

Championing West Virginia’s Furry Friends

Dedicated to rescuing and fostering animals, we focus on compassion, community, and hope. Our mission is to serve West Virginia shelters and promote animal adoption, driven by empathy and a commitment to a better future for pets and people alike.

I have seen the staff of PupSavers Rescue at events at Tractor Supply and Pet Supply Plus. They like so many of the rescue organizations, are volunteers who have the overwhelming job of seeing these dogs and cats at their worst as they pull them from unimaginable circumstances. They work tirelessly to ensure their all vetted and most importantly loved until they can be adopted. It is a difficult job to let a pet you’ve spent so much time with go with an almost complete stranger and even more difficult to see the ones overlooked at an event watch as their friends are adopted and they are left behind.

Thanks for all you do to help these animals find safe loving homes and for being their safe place while they wait for their furever home.
